My little girl turns 6 years old tomorrow!

My baby girl was born February 13, 2006 in Orem Utah.
5 Pounds 11 ounces and 19 inches long.
Tomorrow she is turning 6 years old.
Tonight I'm looking through my pictures missing my baby!

I was love at first splash for Love Bug!

Do you see her fingers. I call it threading. Ever since she was tiny she would pull things through her fingers. She so tired sometimes she'll do it to my shirt or her dress with out even realizing it. Its her tell tell sign that she is EXHAUSTED!

The 3 amigos! I know she misses them. For 3 years in a row these three girls shared bday together. It was sad not to have them together today.

I seriously took almost 100 pics of these kids to try and get 3 good ones for a card to send out!

This one of Snuggle Bug is a little blurry but I chose a little blurry over the other ones. lol That and the card I picked cuts the tree out anyways.

Hugga Bug is such a clown its hard to get a REAL smile out of him.

and then theres Love Bug... the perfect poser. Of course she has been trying to smile with out showing her teeth. It takes all the twinkle out of her eyes. I love her big smile.

It was really hard to figure out which setting to use to get the right amount of light I wanted. No I'm not to the point I can manually shoot. But I'm getting an idea of which setting uses a certain shutter speed and aperture. So theres progress.

This is a total darling pic of HB. I had the Flash on (above) and I didnt have a matching one of SB and LB so I couldnt use this one for the card. But its cute huh! And the one below I played with a lot of the color settings. I think I'm going to inverst in a Photo Shop. A very BASIC one!

Hearing Aid

Ya baby!! I have a hearing aid now!! Very exciting!! $2300.00 worth of goodness!!!

It really sounds like a microphone in my ear. But I'll get use to it. Right now its at 80%. They hope to get me up to 100% in a few weeks!
And its so tiny!
I auto adjusts to the noise environment I'm in. So theres no "turning it up or down".

My hearing isnt really all that bad. Depending on the situation I just basically loose the ends of most words and some beginnings. And depending on the melody of your voice I might only get half of what you say. Takes a lot of concentration to understand people when I'm in crowd. And lets face it... with ADD I have a hard enough time catching everything anyways.

It has lead to some funny conversations though.

Its easier to look like you know what your doing when you have a nice camera. I upgraded the day after Thanksgiving to a Nikon D5100. It was on sale for almost the same price I paid for my D3100. You wouldnt BELIEVE how many pics I had to take to get these few. =)

Some Hotel Fun while we wait for Josh and Isaac to come back from weigh in.
These two are either best friends or mortal enemies. I dont know whats been in the water lately but they have been inseparable lately.

Our friends Kim and Wayne. Their little boy was also wrestling. Seriously cute family and they live just down the street from us. A 5 year old boy and then a little girl.
Wayne is in the Surgical Residency with the Army. So we relate to their a little better then the Soldier world.

The bleachers were above the mats so we were looking down on the wrestlers. I snuck past the guys at the door most of the time. Other times I just bat my eyes and say I'll just go in for his match and remain calm as I snapped pics.

Four huge mats. The littler guys would wrestler to sets per mat.
It needs to be said that at the beginning of Sept. he weighed in at 49.2 pounds. He weighed in at practice on Thursday at 57.6 pounds.
Thats over 2 months (a little less) and almost 8 pounds. This is what he's been looking like the last two years. Getting taller and taller but gaining only a few pounds.
Subtract ADHD meds and add wrestling, protein shakes, and a whole lot of eating!
He looks soooo good!!!

Stance is still a little low. Looks cool though. Kind of reminds me of a guy named Dorian. He was on my older brothers team in HS. He'd get really low and move his hands all weird. Totally freaked his opponent. That and he was a HUGE black guy with a seriously awesome green tattoo. That might have had something to do with it too.

Love Bug stayed busy playing with her friends. Being on the base means that the sisters of the wrestlers are either in her dance class or cheer squad.

I was so proud of my boy! But it was really hard during the 2nd and 3rd match. You dont want to hear someone yell "SQUEEZE" when they are screaming about your boy.
He was excited he got 4th place and a medal.
4th out of 4.... thats good right?

He's excited to go into the next tournament with some moves under his belt.
Anyone want to give him one on one time please contact me.
They only get to practice 1 hour twice a week and there a re a lot of kids and practice isnt very organized as far as teaching basic moves and skill.
He definitely has the passion.... he just needs the time and encouragement.
So proud of my Snuggle Bug!

Love Bug is Cheering

So for $40 we signed Love Bug up for cheer. That includes her uniform, minus the turtle neck and leggings, and her pompoms. I'm hoping it helps her speach and confidence in speecking in front of people. She's loud as can be at home but out of the house she's speaks as quiet as a mouse. She was teased last year. Some of the boys kept calling her a baby. I told her it was probably because they liked her but she said it was because they think she talks like a baby.
We'll have to wait and see if my plan works. Anyways...
She cheers with her team for both of the basketball teams that are playing in the game. So their squad isnt paired up with a specific team.

I think its great because they have a game to cheer for every Saturday but they are learning to encourage any and everyone playing the game.

She was so tired that day. Pretty sure her ears were bothering her again.

Unlike the civilian cheer squads... our girls are a little more covered and not caked with makeup.

I think we have 10-12 girls. They practice an hour twice a week. Horrible time though. Mon and Wed 5-6pm. Who thought of that??

All of them were pretty out of it that Saturday not just Sydney. I'm curious to see how tonight's practice will go.

One of the moms is going to make matching hair bows for all the girls. We just grabbed a red hair clip out of her box. I made this one last year I think.
All in all I think she's liking it. Hopefully she wont get bored half way through the season like soccer.

My hugga bug is so silly. He really is a different kind of kid and I love him for it! He likes to play like he's a puppy and chronically has a dirty face. Every time I wipe it he SCREAMS like I'm pulling his finger nails off and adding salt. So I tried to limit it to 2 times a day.

Here he is wearing his normal attire of underwear and a long sleeve t shirt. He would just do the underwear by itself if I didn't freeze every time I looked at him. He also loves my slippers. It made for a hilarious outfit for the day. And needless to say but I will anyways....

I think he needs a haircut.
And dont you just love his eyes!!!!

So every other Wed. is a 1/2 day for the school district. Since Sydney is morning Kindergarten every other 1/2 day is a day off for her.
I decided that we as a family would take that day to go on family field trips. Yes I keep Isaac home once a month for the field trips.
We've been to the Zoo, the Fair and now NW Trek.

My Mom and Dad decided to take the day off and come with us. I was so excited. It was a wonderful day!

We met my parents at Dennys for breakfast and then headed out to
NW Trek.

There were several animal encounters on the side of the paths.
I've gotten to where I'm really fond of Porcupines!
So stinken CUTE!!!

We made our way to the Tram Tour.
The tour takes you in and around the 435-acre (176 ha) free-range area.
It has big windows which we could open to get a bigger view of all the animals.
The first corner we turned and saw tons of animals. Bison, elk, and even a family of racoons.
Now you think that racoons are nocturnal but the grazing animals are fed in the day so thats when the racoons come out. Fascinatingly adaptable little guys. They are digging up left overs from the elk feeding.

The tour lasted about an hour so the kids snacked as we kept our eyes peeled for animals in their natural habit (more or less).

I dont know whats going on with my blog.... the commentary and pics are not lining up. That means the rest of this post will be photo blogging.

I can summarize by saying it was a wonderful. With a few underwear accidents and lots of smiles.

Later on that night Gandma and grandpa watched the kids for about 2 hours while Josh and I went out with the Colonels and his class. The kids ate pizza and watch
Black Beards Ghost.
When we got back the kids told us all about they're favorite part.
"Get his Guns!!"

So as a stay at home mom there really isnt much to look forward to. Anytime an opportunity comes where I get to dress up and get out of the house, I really look forward to it. And thats putting it gently. I actually plan out my outfits weeks in advance, get help watching the kids, clean my house, shave my legs and put my makeup on.
So when plans fall through to say I'm disappointed would be putting it gently.
Today was one of those days....

After several severe meltdowns from kids and blow ups from me.....
My Snuggle Bug was watching youtube and found this video for me. He wanted to know if I ever felt like this.....
OH TOOOO MANY TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

What hit me so hard about this video is that
the other two babies dont learn anything from their siblings demise.
I love all my bugs and a big thank you to my Snuggle Bug....
I guess sometimes he does get it.

For dinner tonight I made Home made bread bowls and crock pot stew.
Love Bug helped me with forming the bread bowls.
They are actually really easy.
This isn't the recipe I used. This one is from Allrecipes.com.

Bread Bowls

Prep Time: 30 Minutes

Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Ready In: 2 Hours 20 Minutes

Servings: 8

"Instead of offering bread with you favorite kettle creation, our Test Kitchen home economists suggests serving it inside of these bread bowls!"

Ingredients:

2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (110 degrees to 115

degrees)

1 cup warm milk (110 to 115 degrees F)

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons salt

6 cups all-purpose flour

Cornmeal

Directions:

1.	In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the milk, shortening, sugar, eggs, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. I just left it in my kitchen aid for about 4 minutes kneading.
2.	Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into eight pieces; shape each into a ball. Grease two baking sheets and sprinkle with cornmeal. Place four balls 3 in. apart on each prepared pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
3.	For bread bowls, cut a thin slice off the top of bread. Hollow out bottom half, leaving a 1/4-in. shell (discard removed bread or save for another use). Fill with chili, chowder or stew.

When AllMyLove came home today from work he told me about these cookie bowls he saw on Reddit.com. Bowls made out of cookie! He said they cooked them on the bottom of cupcake pans. So I looked it up on line and found a site I could work with of course now I cant find that site. But anyways...
Since I just a bunch of cookie mixes from the truck load sale
I just went ahead and used one of those.
Snickerdoodles!!!!! But you can use any kind of cookie.
So you make up the batch and then get two peices of wax paper. Roll your cookie dough into a ball and then slide it between the two sheets.
I just used my fingers to spread out the dough to a circle.
Then I laid it over the spread bottom cup cake pan.
Just to let you know I put way to much on. They wound up growing way too much. lol
You could probably just over lap the rim, barely. When they bake they'll grow down the sides.

Since mine were still warm when I removed them from the pan I put them in a bowl.

I had one child refuse the stew and another act disgusted when I gave him his dessert.

Theres a reason I named the blog this....

Yes I took 3 kids to the Puyallup fair all by myself! I had them wear their camel backs and had their dog tags on with my cell phone number on them. I lost Snugglebug twice (not bad for how many distracting things are at a fair) and Huggabug once. Good thing they are red heads. All I had to do is look at someone , hold my hand to show how tall they are and say, "have you seen a red head go by here?"
People wonder why I dont get scared when that happens.... I guess I just think the best of people. So many times I say people watching Huggabug wondering "who is he with?" I'd wave my hand and say "he's with me!" And they would look relieved. People do care.

We rode lots of rides. We being "them" rode lots of rides. Those bracelets were a pretty penny. I didnt buy one because I was sick from buying theirs. But that let them go on as many rides as time would allow. Other wise it was .50 a ticket and most rides were 6 or more tickets to ride.

SnuggleBug was very patient with the rides. He really wanted to go on the big ones but found out he had to have an adult ride with him. Well I wasnt about to ride. Who would watch the otehr two kids?

He had a good time on the "baby" rides even if he wont admit it.
The swings were the big hit though. Always are.

What it really is is HILARIOUS!!!
Lovebug was the best girl by far. She said she liked riding the sheep but didnt like falling off.
If you look closely you can see her flip over.

These guys are Mountainboarders.
Basically they took a snow board and put huge beefy wheels on it. They go down ramps and do all shorts of skateboarding tricks.
Snugglebug was in Heaven! We caught the end of one show and came back to watch the full thing and get autographs and pics later.

After the end of the first MBing show we stayed and watched a circus act. SB was called out of the audience to help lift chairs. He earned a dollar. The guy was pretty funny!

I was defiantly a highlight of his day.

Lovebug was pretty beat by then and tried to take a nap but the show was too enticing. She loved the Silk Arial Dancer.

We got a caremel apple and hit the animal barns.Snugglebug started laughing hysterically when he saw theses sheep. "Mom look at these sheep! They have cloths on!"

Turns out the owners do that to keep the wool clean.
He thought it was pretty funny.

AHHH THE PETTING FARM

and this really cool Goose.
He wasnt in the petting zoo but I loved him. I should've gotten the name.
I call them Angora geese. They has these crazy fluffy feathers. Beautiful.

Then we went and saw all the doggies and asked a bunch of questions. Then to my favorite....
The horses.... Ofcourse the first ones we saw were too big and scary for Huggabug to approach. When he turned around screaming NOOOO he saw the shetlon ponies
"these are my kind of horseys mommy!"

He then proceeded to do a goofy happy dance.

I eventually got him to come over to the draft horses. They are my favorite.
Snugglebug got a kick out of watching them poop. Of course.

They are crazy big!!!! The kids come up to their knee caps!

So the wagon was a life saver.... when they werent bugging each other. I could get to one side of the fair to the other quickly with out loosing anyone to distraction.

We got there a little before 11am and got home at almost 9pm.
Yes that was a LONG day. But all in all... we had a good time.
I have great kids and really enjoyed them.
They were so beat I had them stay home from school the next day and had them veg out!

So we use to have to go out to Cooper City every Tues and Thurs for dance. But now Love bug is taking her class on tuesday also. She has hers at 4 and Love bug has his at 5.
Makes for a long afternoon for my and Hugga bug but its better then driving the extra 16 miles on Thurday also. That also put me out of the house 2 nights a week. So no dinner was made then. Now that is just tuesday... we hit up Chickfila about 6:30. They always have a craft for the kids and buy an adult meal and get a kids meal free.
Then we just take them home and put them to bed.
Strawberry the clown is the clown in Davie and she's only there once a month. We miss Bella. She is so much faster and way more focused then Strawberry. But She's in sunrise and Strawberry is in Davie so you get what you get.
Cant complain.

Isaac's birthday!!

So we started Snuggle-bug's bday celebrations on early. Since there was no school Friday I had to go in on THURSDAY. You go into the cafeteria and give the cupcakes out there.
Besides my bug there were 3 other bdays that day.

We spent Friday at the Hollywood beach. Had a blast with Amy and her kids. We were there from 11 to almost 3. long day at the beach. I got snuggle bug a skim board before we went.
It doesnt work so well on Hollywood b/c the waves break on a sand hill, but he'll rock it at Seaside this August!

We planned the party for Saturday at the splash pad in Plantation.
Unfortunately Azac got his invitations out before us so most of his class went to his party. His friend Matthew came and of course cutie Lina was there (She thinks Isaac is so handsome). My friend Michelle brought her little boy Jaxson. And Mari our neighbor came.
I was crushed because the splash pad was shut down and robed off. We brought some h2o balloons but not enough. They blew through them in less then 2 minutes. Big Isaac was out hero when he showed up with a bunch!
I was really disappointed in the party. And thats an understatement.

But Snuggle bug had fun and didnt seem to mind.
His party was from 11-1 and love bug had to be dropped off at another party at 1:30.

My 2 older bugs and I hit up Azac's party.
A TRUE Florida bday party. Huge bounce house, lots of food and alcohol, cake and pinyotta.
they also had relay games with prizes.
No one would be Love bugs partner so I wound up doing a race with a h2o balloon pressed between our foreheads. Too bad no wanted to team up with her b/c we won.
She got Moxi Girl makeup. I had no idea what it was but she was seriously stoked!
Snuggle bug spent a good amount of time in the tree with his cutie friend named Mia.

It started at 4 and we left at almost 7... they still hadnt cut cake or done the pinyotta.
Both bugs got serious goody bags and a party mix CD on top of that.

It was the best day ever!

luvluvluvluv this new wagon I got. Worth all the $54 I spent on it. It folds up to the size of a stroller and fits right in the back of my van. Got it at Costco. We fit everything in it. Towels, Sandtoys, Cooler, Umbrella, and two of my bugs!!
Holds up to 100 pounds.
And it actually did really well on the sand. Of course I had to get the 2 bugs out of it first.
We learned that after it tipped over.

Took us forever to get there!

HB was a completely different kid this time around. Crazy different.
Last year when we came he only wanted to play I the fountain. Wanted nothing to do with the sand or the sound of the waves.

Got this great outfit for him at Costco. The top is 100 SPF and it snaps to the bottoms and also a flotation device. I cant wait to see how he does in the pool.
Last year he didnt want to go anywhere near a floaty.
And he didnt mind putting it on. It worked out fantastic. I got LB one too. Exactly the same size but she has cute little shorts and for some reason hers doesnt snap.
But thanks to my awesome mom I have a snap making device so I can add them myself!

SB getting some great picks of his "styling" hair. Can you get an idea of what he might look like when he's grown? I'm going to have to beat the girls off of him. The girls are so aggressive now cant imagine what they'll be like in 10 more years.

He played in the sand too but by far he LOVES the water!

LB was so Tired and Cold. I thought it felt great but she wasnt too keen on the wind. And as it got later it did get a bit more nippy. Heaven help us when we move to WA.

You cant see the fountain below us but its there on the right side of the pic. And theres a little side walk leading out on to the sand which makes it easy to get close to the water
with out a HUGE hike!

Actually I dont mind going with out makeup... Isaac was taking a picture of all my freckles that showed up that day!

Tired baby! He didnt get a nap that day. He did so great the whole time we were there!

And LB was CRAZY tired too. She gets a little loopy.

And when did he get so grown up looking?

I really did enjoy my children that afternoon. Thank you to Fernanda and Martin who wound up meeting us there! Hope to get together again like that soon. And hopefully josh can come with us next time.
Might not have been my "best day ever"... but it was close.

Bowling with the Family

How cute is this picture! So many little feet!
Since trying to go bowling the day before was a huge BUST... when AllMyLove got back from taking the WREBS we all headed over to try again.

HAB by far was the funniest. SB was obsessed with winning, LB wasnt really into it, she'd rather pose for the camera but Lincoln LOVED it!
He got to a point where he would actually sit on my lap and wait his turn. I think the animations on the screen were helping in that.
He really is such a character! Makes me smile!

that is unless he's not smiling, then he makes sure no one around him is smiling.

He actually hit some pins this time. i love it!Now SB of course was focused on being the best and proving to everyone that he actually knew everything there is to know about bowling.
"this is how you hold the ball." Was just one of the many tid bits of wisdom he had to share.
And truth be told his form wasnt too bad. I mean he is still 6 years old.

LoveBug carried her ball like a baby and then dropped it when she got to the line. Reminded me of when I tried shot put and almost broke my toe!
Seriously it took like 5 minutes for her ball to get to the end of the lane just to gutter right before the pins. But hey whats a girl to do?

And she really is cute huh?
Such a poser... enough said.They love waiting for the ball to come up and kept getting in trouble for getting their hands and faces in the way. Yes LB's finger was eventually smashed by one of the balls. Thats why they decided it would be safer on the floor.

We spent a ridiculous $10 on 6 mozzarella sticks, A bottle of H2O, and a nasty bag of popcorn.
But in the kids eyes.... "the best day ever!" Sang by spongebob of course.
And believe it or not no temper-tantrums when we had to go.
It was a great afternoon.

Sunday Afternoon

We got a great little card that get us free bowling. We just have to pay for shoes.
So we load up the kids (Snuggle Bug has been asking since summer to go bowling again) and we head over to the bowling alley.
We get there at about 10 till 5. Well guess what? A league is coming in at 5 so they are clearing all the lanes. SUCK!
Snuggle Bug is the oldest but that does not stop him from TRYING to have a full blown meltdown.
Love Bug and HugaBug fall right in line and head out to the car.
We then rack our brain for something to do.
Being that its March and we are in Florida (at least for a few more months) we head to the park with a splash pad. FREEEEE

WOW what a difference a year makes. Yes this is me sitting relaxing while all 3 of my children are off playing. Being that AllMyLove had to take the WREB (Western Regional Education Boards) He spent the time studying.

He's so handsome.

He did take a break from studying to swing the two younger ones. THANK GOODNESS! I told the kids before we got there I wasnt swinging anyone.
I know I'm heartless. The fact is that I swing them ALL THE TIME!
I usually put a 15 minute time length on my swinging too unless
I have a girlfriend to chat with and swing.

Snuggle Bug Climbing under the Playground.

Love Bug and HuggaBug were best friends that day.
They went every where together.

It was pretty exciting to watch Huggabug be so fearless. Last year I had to go on the bigtoy with him. There were still a few thing that he looked at and said no I dont think so. Like the little ladder Sydney is standing at the top of in the pic above. And dont get me started on the SplashPad. He didnt want anything to do with it last year and this time he was the only bug that wanted to go in.

Oh how they love slides!!! Its the only thing that will get them off the swings. they went up the tree and down the slides for almost an hour.

And his teeth are adjusting now that he's been off the pacifier for a while. Their not so bucked out anymore. Surprising how cute they were though. It kind of added to his personality!

Heres a video of Snuggle Bug on the swings. He was over making friends. I dont understand why he feels such a need. Why doesnt he just play with his siblings. They're built in friends.

Well its Huga Bug's turn I guess. He woke up from nap with a fever of almost 102.
He's always congested but I guess this time its something more.
He and I will be sick buddies for the next couple days.
He was just so cute curled up on his daddy! He looks so much LIKE his daddy! i love it!
I cant wait until the stress of dental school is over.
Maybe there will be more moments like this....

He took the family to the church parking lot on Saturday night. We had a blanket for a picnic and brought the gocart. Lots of fun was had by all. And I think I figured out that its actually the cart thats messing with my back.

Hugga Bug went a couple times with me but he was just as happy driving his rock around. lol
Yes I know he's a weird little guy... I love it!
Oh and lets not forget the chips.

Buy one get one free at Publix. and man do I love those! Sour cream and onion ones!

Just ignore my crazy hair and brunt skin.
So I've been reading a lot of Instyle and all those mags. Never much been in to fashion. This has bloomed over from interior decorating mags. I still need desperate help there too.
But the new thing this spring is colorcolorcolor! Theres a whole 70s theme coming back too. Now those of you who havnt known me since high school wouldnt know that I totally rocked the 70s in high school. I mean bell bottoms and pointed collars. Then it became kind of cool in a new version. Well then I wasnt too into it. mine was authentic but people started sporting stuff they thought was retro but wasnt. So that phase for me passed.
But I love rocking this new dress I got super cheap at Kohls and a Vera Wang Jacket.
My go to fishnet stockings to cover the veins and bruises my kids give me with out actually wearing full of nylons. I really want to do colored tights but I'm not brave enough. Maybe next Monday.

My baby Girl is getting so Big

February 13th, 2006 about 9:30 int he morning.
After a month on bedrest , she came a week early! Sooo tiny!
I badly wanted to have her on Valentines day but glad I didnt. Turns out a lot of babies wanted to be born on the 14th. I would've had to share a room. YUCK!
But she still got the cute vday ribbon on her head.

I remember my mom telling me once that I was the ugliest baby out of the four of us. She said I stayed red FOREVER! Looking at this pic of Sydney I can see what she means.
She wasnt the prettiest baby either but that sure changed.
This is her at 6 weeks old.

Here she is at her 1st birthday. A heart cake because thats what was on sale! And yes i do believe she is holding a lighter. Can you see her little curls? Her head is a little miss shaped so I was so happy when her hair started to grow in. If I had known better I would've pushed the doctor to give her a helmet but they said her head would get better as she got older. NOPE!

Below is her 3rd Birthday with her two besties!! Haley and Kayla. Kayla the one in the middle is only 2 weeks younger then Sydney and Haley is a few months older.
The next year found the same three girls together but with Josie also. This was shortly after Sydney decided to cut her hair. She was watching Mulan and wanted to do what she did. there were no swords lieing around our house but she did find scissors. The only way to let it grow out properly was to pixie it. So at age 4 she has boy short hair.
I did look cute on her but being that she's my only girl it hurt to see it so short.

And Now here we are present day. I have two videos. One is of her church youth group singing happy birthday (yes she wore her princess crown to Church) and the next is of the family cake party. We went to Monkey Joes with her friends on Friday and that was nice. But I always love the family cake party the best. Jessica came with her 3 cuties and Lucy and Joe stopped in with their two cuties.
And of course the gorgeous Cardona girls.
It was nice to have friends with us.
Next is Isaac.... he'll be turning 7 in April.Had to put a pic of Sydney's cake on here. I baked it and frosted it. Last minute Josh decided to free hand a mermaid. Not too shabby huh! I like her shells the best! RED HOT!

Cheesy Garlic Bread Swirls

Okay, so have you ever just had those moments of epiphany, when you're just sitting there and some perfectly-formed idea pops into your brain? For days, I had been mulling things over--French bread dough...garlic butter...cheese--but I just could NOT figure out the logistics of it all. And then one day, it just came to me and I couldn't make them fast enough. And they were even better than I imagined.

Don't get me wrong, this is no health snack--I mean, we're talking butter AND cheese here (my dietitian friend Emily should probably just avert her eyes now). But oh. My. Gosh. these are so good. And one perk is that one is pretty much enough, so all you have to do is find enough people to help you eat them so you don't have any leftovers and it's not TOO bad of a nutritional train wreck!

Cheesy Garlic Bread Swirls
Recipe by Our Best Bites

French Bread Dough:
1 Tbsp. yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4-5 1/2 c. flour
3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 egg yolk

Garlic Butter:
1/2 c. (1 stick) of real butter, no substitutions
1 1/2 Tbsp. garlic bread seasoning

Shredded mozzarella cheese

Combine yeast, water, and sugar in large mixing bowl and allow to stand 10 minutes or until bubbly. Add salt, vegetable oil, and egg yolk (set white aside for later) and combine. Add 3 c. flour and mix well until combined. Add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough that barely sticks to your finger. Knead, either by hand or in mixer (my personal and very lazy choice) for another 2-3 minutes. Cover and allow to rise 1 hour.

While dough is rising, combine butter and garlic bread seasoning. Set aside.

Now...here's a little trick I've been using a lot lately. I really, really hate cleaning up flour on my work surface after I've been working with dough, but I obviously have to use SOMETHING to keep it from sticking. If you spray a little non-stick cooking spray on your work surface and your rolling pin, your dough won't stick and clean-up is super easy!

Anyway, roll your rough into a rectangle that's about 18-20 inches by 6 inches. Smear garlic butter over the entire surface of the dough and then sprinkle with cheese.

Roll up jelly-roll style and then use dental floss to cut into 12 equal slices. Of course, I kind of forgot to take pictures of this whole process, but if what I'm saying makes no sense, check out the orange roll recipe to see what I'm talking about. Place each slice in a muffin tin. Cover with a clean cloth. Preheat oven to 350 and allow rolls to rise while the oven is heating.

When the oven is ready, bake for 18-22 minutes.

You're going to need to keep a CLOSE eye on these puppies during the last 10 minutes or so--once you notice the cheese getting brown, place a sheet of aluminum foil over the rolls (you don't need to press it down or anything, just lay it on top). This will keep the cheese from burning, although it will get pretty brown on top. It's okay, though, because the insides are still all ooey-gooey.

Isaac's Hip Hop dance class

They are learning the routine for the recital. this time they are having the boys class dance the number with the girls. It's going to be really cute.
I think the boys start it out and the girls join in later.
Mr. Steven is Isaac's teacher. He's really good at dancing and managing the boys.
I did a video hoping maybe isaac will practice at home. He's got most of it but he spends his time watching the eldest boy in the mirror, that seems to put him just a hair behind everyone. I'm sure if he were more confident...
then again he just started a few months ago and these boys have been doing hiphop since last year or longer.
He's holding his own. And the teacher really likes him. (who wouldnt?)

Yep you read right... we are heading back to WA for Josh's 1 year res. In my dream he makes great networking ties there and they keep him for Oral Surgery. But thats a dream, but it would keep us there for 5 years total and I'd have family there to help me out.

TWO for TWO

Thats right! Two new recipes and the family liked both!

French Dip Sandwiches
Recipe by OurBestBites.com

French Dip Sandwiches

1 2.5-3 lb. beef roast (you can use a frozen roast if you want)
2 Tbsp. olive oil
salt and pepper
2 1-ounce packages dry onion soup mix
2 c. water
2 cans beef broth
6-8 large buns (or more...6 would be VERY generous servings!)
Swiss, provolone, or mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced.

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat and rub roast with salt and pepper.

When very hot, carefully place roast in pan and sear on all sides. You're not cooking the meat, you're just browning it quickly on all sides to add flavor and seal in the juices.

Place in crockpot and sprinkle with onion soup mixes. Pour water and beef broth over roast.

Cook 8-10 hours on low or cook 4-5 hours on high and another 3-4 hours on low. It's hard to screw this part up; basically, the longer it cooks, the more tender it will be. But you know it's done when you pop a fork in it and the meat just falls apart. When meat is ready, shred with a fork.

Place meat in crusty rolls. Top with cheese and broil open-faced in the oven or toaster oven for a few minutes, until bread is golden and cheese is melty.

Ladle juices into small cups for dipping and enjoy!

Just recently Kohl's had Eric Carle books for their Charity books.
I love him. If you dont know who he is he wrote "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".
Anyways. . . Kohls rotates the books and Stuffed animals that go with them. I just love it. Each book is $5 and each animal is $5. 100% goes to Charity. kohls doesnt keep any of it.
Well I went and got them all. And a few extras for gifts. Each one of my kids picked an animal and I bought the book that went with the animal they picked.
SUPER CUTE!!!!
They LOVE IT!
I had to make a video with Lincoln explaining what he named his Chameleon. I have no idea where he got this name but he has stuck by it for over a week.
Then of course my two camera hogs came over too. Sydney goes into super cute mode when she's tired and she's pretty much exhausted these days. Isaac after watching the video corrected himself, "It actually Mr. furry shell, not shelly." thanks for the clarification.
But thats ok. They really are all so cute and they are only little once.

So who out there owns a Maxi Dress??? I LOVE mine. In fact I just ordered a Maxi skirt with my kohls $$$. You can do anything with a maxi dress and they look good on everyone. Gotta Love em. The only thing is they are usually really long on my 5'4" frame. I've wanted to shorten it but dont like the whole "did it myself" look. Well I happened to stumble on a blog where she pretty much customizes all her outfits to fit her perfectly and she had some really "dumbed down" tutorials for people like me.

The picture below is of my finished hem. I took a total of 3 inches off, now I can wear cute sandals with it instead of 4" wedges. (which did look cute but you cant run after a toddler in them). Not too shabby huh!! I also took the sleeves up 1/2 an inch each. What a huge difference. My boobs look so much bigger with a top that fits.

I spent a fair amount of time going through my closet looking at all the stuff I want to hem or take in. I have this great Purple dress I'm going to wear to Josh's graduation Banquet in May but I think I'm still hesitant to take that one in on my own.
We'll see, maybe after a few more alterations under my belt I'll be more confident.
Now go hem some pants!!! (or skirts)

So I made a New Years resolution to put myself together everyday. Even if its just a little. I had been doing pretty good so I thought why not make it official? BIG MISTAKE!!!! Needless to say that its February and I've probably done it maybe a handful of times.
Well I got a new order in the mail. BE new brightening primer. LOVE IT!!!!
Besides making your face feel like satin (the original does too) it has little gold flecks in it. Makes the light reflect of your imperfections.

I had dye in my hair. Second box in a couple weeks. We dont even want to talk about my bright red roots that the last bye job did.
You can best see the makeup in the top right corner.
Doesnt make a huge difference but in person it makes just enough.

I made this for dinner last night and my family didnt die!!!

Chicken-Bacon Stuffed Pizza Rolls

1 roll refrigerated pizza dough* (or make your own)
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix
2 T grated Parmesan cheese
1 T olive oil or melted butter
sharp cheddar cheese (I used 75% sharp cheddar and 25% mozzarella)
8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
about 1 C shredded, cooked chicken.
3/4 C mayo
3/4 C milk

First take 1 teaspoon of your ranch dressing mix and combine it with 1 1/2 T parmesan cheese. Set aside. Combine the remaining ranch mix with 3/4 C mayo and 3/4 C milk and place in the fridge to chill. (This is the dip)

Preheat oven to heat specified on pizza dough package. Usually it's 400-425 degrees.

Unroll your pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat or roll the dough so it's about 12" by 8". You're going to want to cut it into 24 squares, so just eyeball it if you need to. Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 24 squares.

Place cheese and desired toppings on each square.

When all of your dough squares have cheese and toppings on them, carefully lift up each square and wrap the dough around the toppings.

I grab the four corners first and then squeeze the seams shut. Then place them seam side down in a lightly sprayed pie pan (or similar sized dish). Brush with melted butter or olive oil and sprinkle with the parmesan-ranch mixture.

Time out for a sec. I tried a few new things this time around. One was to cook some of my rolls in a mini-muffin pan. This might work better for serving depending on the situation. They turned out great. You're making 24 rolls, so it fills up the pan perfectly. They cook quicker this way than in a pie pan so keep an eye on them. Mine only took about 8 minutes whereas the ones in the pan took about 13-15.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Place your rolls in the oven. I've noticed baking time really depends on the type of dough I'm using. Whether it's different brands from the store, or homemade dough, they all take different amounts of time. Set your timer for 10 minutes and check on them after that. They may take up to 15 or 20 to be done. Take them out when they're lightly golden on top.

Serve them warm with a side of freshly made ranch dressing for dipping.

I'm serious when I tell you these are amazing. They were actually way better than I had imagined them. Although how could you possibly go wrong with warm dough, gooey cheese, and crispy bacon, dipped in ranch. You can't. You just can't.

The other great thing is that these are freezable! Before baking, flash freeze individually, or together right in a disposable foil pan. Bake from frozen until golden brown.

Here are mine, they are not as pretty as her's. But they did taste good.

couple of tips.... I made my dough in my bread maker which didnt mix it up very well. The dough was way too much trouble. Just buy the store bought frozen dough. I'm even going to try Pillsbury dough next time. Maybe the crescent rolls.
Oh and I used a left over chicken breast from a rotisserie chicken from the night before.
I've got the pre cooked and crumbled bacon from Costco. I know its not as tasty and greasy as the bacon you cook at home but then your house
doesnt smell like bacon for a week and prep time is WAY less!!
Oh and dont over stuff them, it will make you swear.
And definitely go the route of the cupcake pan. Way easy!
Over all the family liked enough for me to make them again.

Lincoln pretty much followed me around all morning asking me to take pictures of him.
I love this shirt he's wearing. I didnt think red heads could wear red but it looks great on him.

You see he was upset yesterday when Sydney told him he couldn't be in her pictures. Doesnt he look so sad. And yes he spent all day wearing no pants because thats how he rolls. here it is building and below is the meltdown. He wouldnt even calm down to have his turn next. In his defense Sydney was being a stinker yesterday.
So I guess he woke up this morning with pics on his mind.

Over 100 hits since last night

Thats right! I've had over 100 hits on my blog since last night! CRAZY!
That prompts me to ask myself
"who are all you people?"
Obviously people of incredible taste as my mother always said! =)
So I made up a little poll of questions to kind of get an idea as to why I have so many hits.
Granted some of those hits are mine b/c I use my own blog as a launch point to stalk so many other blogs. Thats actually on of the questions too.
This blog started off as just somewhere for me to posts pictures of the kids since both our families are so far away. But in this last year it has also become therapy for me.
I love that you love coming to visit me here.
If I can get an idea as to why....
actually I have no idea what I would do with that information! hahahaha

I got the shirt at Target. thanks to the heads up Jenessa, it was only $3.50.
the super cute jeans she's got on came from my sisters girls handme downs.
